Harrisonville board approves budget amendment, zoning changes and reverses past tax-levy reduction

Tax levy reversal: After a public hearing, the board adopted council bill 49 to reverse a voluntary tax-levy reduction taken roughly a decade ago and bring the levy back to the level it would have been absent the voluntary reduction. Staff estimated the change would raise about $23,000 in city revenue and equate to roughly $1.76 per year on an $80,000 home; staff also noted the final levy is subject to state review. The motion to suspend the rules and read the ordinance passed; the roll-call adoption recorded one Nay from Alderman Turner and the ordinance was enacted.
Other actions: The proposed cruelty-to-animals code amendment (council bill 50) was tabled to the September 16 meeting with a work session. Two planning applications (preliminary plat PPD-24-01-A and rezoning RZPDP-24-01 for the Cedar Crossing project) were continued to October 7 for further staff/applicant work on a development agreement.
