Harrisonville pins badges for two promoted officers

Detective Peter Sumner was introduced as a new detective; staff said he joined the Harrisonville Police Department in July 2022 and previously served as a patrol officer and school resource officer. "He came to the Harrisville Police Department in July of 2022," a staff member said while introducing Sumner; family members attended and a partner performed the pinning.
The board also introduced Sergeant Tim Michelson, who returned to HPD in 2022 after a brief stint elsewhere and "finished on top" of the promotional exam and interview, according to staff. His father pinned the new sergeant badge. The board offered congratulations and brief remarks recognizing the officers' service.
No formal action beyond the ceremonial recognitions was taken; the meeting proceeded to public participation and the regular agenda.
