The Warrenton Planning & Zoning Commission on Tuesday voted 7–0 to recommend approval of a site plan for a four‑story Hampton Inn proposed by SAMP Hospitality LLC.
City staff presented the application, saying the plan covers a 14,769‑square‑foot, four‑story hotel with 80 rooms on a two‑acre parcel west of Market Street and south of Veterans Memorial Parkway. Staff told commissioners the proposal "is consistent with Chapter 405, Regulations of Warrenton Municipal Code," and that the principal difference from an earlier March 2024 approval was an increase from three to four stories; otherwise, site layout and required notices comply with state and local law.
Applicant representative Bart Corman said the change to four stories required only minor parking adjustments and that the ownership closed on an adjacent lot previously expected to be covered by a parking agreement, simplifying on‑site parking arrangements. Following that presentation, Commissioner Costello moved, and Commissioner Madden seconded, a recommendation to approve Hampton Inn Site Plan SP‑176; the commission approved the motion on a roll call vote of 7–0 (three members absent).
The commission's recommendation will be reflected in the official file for local review and any subsequent permitting steps.
