Warrenton aldermen approve $280,042 property and liability insurance renewal

Warrenton — The Warrenton Board of Aldermen on Oct. 15 approved a $280,042 renewal for the city’s property and liability insurance.
City Administrator Brandy Walters told the board the premium rose by “about 33,000” from the prior year. She said vehicle premiums were unchanged but several newer vehicles on the city fleet increased overall costs and that rate increases reflected claims activity nationwide. “Gotta love insurance when we all pay for everybody else’s issues,” one alderman remarked during discussion.
Alderman Alcorn moved to renew the policy at the stated amount; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with Aldermen Lang, Schultz, Crump, Corder, Cullum and Roemaker recorded as voting yes, 6-0.
The council did not alter the coverage levels during the motion. Walters also provided operational updates in the same report, including deadlines and event dates for the coming months.
The insurance renewal vote follows standard budget and administrative procedure; no amendments to the coverage or explicit funding-source shift were made during the meeting. The board moved on to other agenda items after the vote.
