County administrator highlights $16.82 million in grants secured since 2017

County Administrator John told the Board of Supervisors on Oct. 1 that since the county hired a special projects and grants administrator on Oct. 1, 2017, staff have secured approximately $16,820,000 in grant awards and submitted 113 grant opportunities with 80 successes.
John said the grants have supported fire and rescue, emergency services, the sheriff—s office, schools, parks and recreation, the library, human services and community development. He noted roughly $1 million in awards were pending at the time of the report and said the grants administrator averages about $2.4 million in awards per year.
Supervisors thanked the grants administrator, Laura Loveday, and noted the office also assists nonprofit organizations in grant applications. The board did not vote on new grant-related actions at the meeting; the report was informational.
