At the Nov. 6 Culpeper County Board of Supervisors meeting, resident Don Haight used the citizens forum to urge community members to attend an upcoming Planning Commission public hearing at Eastern View School to oppose proposed zoning changes the Board of Supervisors has forwarded.
"On November... the Planning Commission will be having a public hearing at Eastern View School at 7PM. Not here, I repeat, not here, but at Eastern View School," Haight said, urging residents to come to the mic at that meeting and simply say, "Please reject all of the Board of Supervisors' changes." He added the changes were "designed to take our rights away and our property values, disguised as slowing growth."
Haight said prior town halls held by Supervisors David Lee and David Durr were well received and encouraged continued public participation. The Planning Commission will consider and vote on the Board’s proposed zoning changes at that separate hearing; the Board meeting included only Haight's public comment and did not include testimony from Planning Commission members or hearings on the zoning changes themselves.
What’s next: The Planning Commission hearing will occur at Eastern View School at the date/time Haight stated (noted in his public comment). Residents seeking details should consult the Planning Commission agenda and BoardDocs for official meeting notices and materials.
