Culpeper Board Approves Expansion of Water and Sewer Service Area in Elkwood

The Culpeper County Board of Supervisors voted Nov. 6 to expand the county’s public water and sewer service area to include a group of parcels in Elkwood between the railroad and Route 1529.

Mr. Eggertson told the board the parcels under consideration—outlined in staff materials—include commercial, industrial and a few residential lots and are located adjacent to the traffic signal at Elkwood. He said staff had discussed the potential for another party to extend water and sewer across the street to serve the properties and had advertised the public hearing for the board to consider adding the parcels to the county service area.

The chairman opened the public hearing and invited comment; no members of the public spoke. A board member (identified in the transcript as Speaker 4) moved to approve the expansion. The chairman called for a voice vote, the board responded “Aye,” and the chairman declared the motion passed.
