Board accepts $3.08 million in federal funds to close out Greenhouse Road airport project

County staff described the Greenhouse Road project at the Culpeper Regional Airport as a long-running effort to extend Greenhouse Road along the airport's eastern side, relieve an obstruction problem on Beverly Ford Road and open the east side of the airport for future development. After funding shifts and added federal awards, staff said local CIP obligations have decreased and that additional federal support will allow the project to close out.
"What I bring to you today is the final funding formula for the road...we are asking that the board accept and appropriate an additional $3,079,601.70 in federal funds for the greenhouse road project," staff said. The board voted to accept and appropriate the funds.
Staff said the appropriation will permit closing out the project and could return roughly $150,000 of previously budgeted local funds to the general fund because of offsetting federal awards.
Next steps: With funds appropriated, staff indicated the county will finalize project close out and adjust the CIP to reflect reduced local funding needs.
