Commissioner outlines Parks Alive 2025 projects: skatepark, playgrounds, Link Trail and summer events

Commissioner Nash briefed the Camden County Board on Parks Alive 2025, describing ongoing renovations and new amenities across county parks. Nash said the program covers 22 park systems and highlighted a Cooper River skatepark slated for construction, two new playgrounds at Newton Lake, a state‑of‑the‑art playground and softball fields at Cooper River Park, remediation work at Johnson Park, and the Giggs Place project at New Brooklyn Park in Winslow Township.
Nash also reported progress on a 32‑mile Link Trail extension from the Ben Franklin Bridge to southern Winslow and said county staff are negotiating access with Conrail. He thanked parks and special events staff for their work.
Commissioner Young announced a farmers market operating Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sustainability Building through the end of summer, a backyard composting educational series launching in September with locations to be posted on the county website, and a monarch butterfly release event planned for Aug. 27. Young credited the Office of Emergency Management and other staff for event support.
The board offered congratulations to parks staff and encouraged residents to attend summer events and use county park amenities.
