Camden County honors sheriff's Office Honor Guard with resolution and public recognition

The Camden County Board of Commissioners recognized the Camden County Office of the Sheriff's Honor Guard during its June 20 meeting, introducing a resolution honoring the unit and asking team leaders to be recognized.

Director Cappelli named team leaders and members including Travis Ash, Anthony Giuliano, Daniel Wells, Sergeant Brett Ward, Officer Lauren Cole, Officer Lester Russell and Robert Holland. Sheriff Wilson addressed the board, thanking commissioners and describing the honor guard's duties: traveling in all weather across the state and nation to attend memorials and funeral details for law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics and military veterans.

"They do many of our own county events," the chair said during introductions. Sheriff Wilson said, "They've, served me and my family tremendously well," adding that the honor guard attends events for the entire organization and that he was proud to stand with them. Travis Ash, identified as the honor team leader, thanked the commissioners and praised his team's dedication, noting members and families often cancel plans and make sacrifices to ensure funerals and memorials are properly honored.
