Assistant Town Manager Jen Braker presented highlights of the Town of Danvers Citizens Academy, a 10-week program that accepts residents for a behind-the-scenes look at municipal functions. Braker said 20 people were accepted this year and 17 graduated; sessions included finance, fire, DPW, planning, police, library, senior services, public health, electric/IT and schools. Graduates were called up and certificates distributed, and participants and staff were invited for a group photograph.
George Saludo told the board that Swamp Walk restoration will be led by volunteers with a material-funding goal of $15,000 and that the Danvers Rail Trail website has an online path for donations. Saludo presented a $500 check and was thanked by the chair and town manager, who clarified that Friends of the Rail Trail is the smoother vehicle for donation management and that the rail-trail will coordinate gift receipts.
Separately, the board considered the reappointment of Rodney Connolly to the retirement board. A motion to reappoint Connolly was moved, seconded and approved during the meeting.
