Atlantic County honors retiring Commissioner Frank X. Ballas and legislative counsel Rick Andrian

The Atlantic County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday presented resolutions and plaques honoring Commissioner-at-Large Frank X. Ballas and outgoing legislative counsel Rick Andrian.

Ballas, who the board said has more than 32 years in law enforcement and served multiple terms as Atlantic County sheriff before being elected an at-large commissioner in October 2020, was recognized in Resolution 702. Clerk/reader remarks noted Ballas’s career as a Pleasantville police officer, administrative captain and two-term sheriff; the resolution says his last official meeting will be Dec. 31, 2024. Commissioners including Corsi, Gatto, Parker and others delivered personal tributes citing his contributions on criminal-justice and veterans’ issues and praising his community volunteer work. “Frank has done so much throughout the community,” Commissioner Corsi said during remarks recognizing Ballas’s service.

The board also read a separate presentation honoring attorney Rick Andrian for his service as legislative counsel from January 2021 through December 2024. Commissioners described Andrian as a trusted adviser and thanked him for handling contract negotiations and grievances. Andrian thanked the board and said he would remain active in the community.

The presentations were followed by brief remarks from elected officials and party leaders in attendance and the formal presentation of plaques. The board held the tributes at the start of its regular meeting and then proceeded with routine business.
