Northlake proclaims September 2024 as 'Live United Month' for United Way of Denton County

Mayor Brian Montini read Proclamation 24‑5 on Aug. 22, formally declaring September 2024 as Live United Month to recognize United Way of Denton County and its partners for services across Denton County.
The proclamation noted the United Way’s network of nonprofits, governments and businesses and said the organization creates opportunities to expand education, promote economic mobility, improve health and mental health, and provide basic needs for more than 53,000 county residents annually. Grace, identified as the development coordinator at United Way of Denton County, told the council she is "still new" and has a fear of public speaking, then thanked Northlake for its donations and support. She said the contributions have helped change lives in Denton County. Jessica DeRoche, a United Way board member, thanked the council for the proclamation and for the town’s support of the organization’s ongoing work with partner agencies.
The proclamation was read publicly, a short photo opportunity followed, and the item concluded with no formal council action required beyond the ceremonial proclamation. The council moved on to scheduled briefings after the presentation.
