The Planning Commission recommended approval of a future‑land‑use amendment and rezoning for an 84‑acre parcel just east of the Eastern Iowa Airport. Staff said the request converts the site’s future land use to a public/airport designation and rezones the annexed property from agricultural to the airport/public district to conform with the airport layout plan.
Dave Haug led the presentation and Caleb Mason of the Eastern Iowa Airport attended to answer questions. Staff concluded the proposed FLUMA change and rezoning are consistent with the comprehensive plan and compatible with existing airport operations and recommended forwarding both items to City Council for a June 24 public hearing and potential readings July 8. The Commission approved both motions by voice vote.
