Indianola council adopts second amendment to FY25 budget; increases for development legal fees, capital projects

The Indianola City Council voted unanimously on May 19 to adopt a resolution approving the second amendment to the FY25 budget.
Finance staff briefed the council on the amendment, which the staff said reflects department-identified changes: increased legal fees tied to development agreements, higher debt-service expenses for arbitrage fees, additional capital-project costs for streetscape and architectural expenses, and corrected revenue estimates (including about $90,000 in South K Street assessments). Staff also noted reduced state backfill and business property-tax-credit revenues compared with original estimates.
The council opened a public hearing on the amendment and, after discussion and no public objection, moved to exit the hearing and adopt the resolution by roll call. The clerk announced the motion carried with a recorded 5–0 vote.
Next steps: City staff will implement the budget amendments, file required documentation with the state and incorporate the changes into departmental spending plans.
