The council approved an engineering services agreement to support renewal of the city's wastewater treatment plant discharge permit, an administrative requirement of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
City staff said the current discharge permit expires in 2025 and that the city received RFQs for engineering assistance; Lynn Engineering, Inc. was recommended for the work, which staff estimated at $5,000 plus related fees to cover permitting through TCEQ. Council members characterized the award as necessary to maintain plant operations while plans for a new plant continue.
A motion to approve the Lynn Engineering engagement at the recommended cost was seconded and carried during the meeting. Staff said the work is required to keep the plant in compliance until the new facility is built.
