Fairview council hears department reports; mayor proclaims Arbor Day

At its Nov. 5 meeting, the Fairview Town Council received routine departmental reports and a ceremonial proclamation.

Finance staff Steven reviewed year‑to‑date fiscal numbers through September: general fund revenues reported at $12,098,428 (above budget) with expenditures of $12,421,813 (also over budget), investment income noted, and sales tax collections for the fiscal year at $4,293,700 (an increase of $220,439, or 5.4%). Steven also reported utility and solid‑waste metrics and a ‘zoning defense’ donation fund with $7,300 from 60 donations and 968 site visits.

The police department updated staffing and operations: one officer in field training, one recently cleared to operate independently, three current openings, and a conditional offer extended to a candidate. Police participation in the national Drug Take Back collected 11 large boxes totaling 254 pounds of medication; those boxes were delivered to the DEA in Dallas.

The fire department reported near completion of an HVAC project, swift‑water training for personnel and described a house fire in Heritage Ranch that investigators deemed undetermined in cause; mutual aid from neighboring cities assisted the response and no injuries were reported.

Mayor Henry Lessner read a proclamation for Arbor Day, noting the community and environmental benefits of trees and encouraging tree planting.

These reports were received; no formal council actions were required for these routine departmental updates.
