The Fairview Town Council took several formal actions at the meeting: it approved issuing limited tax notes to fund a new fire truck, read and approved a Community Development Corporation (CDC) resolution for FY24‑25 budgeted projects, authorized a donation platform for a Town of Fairview Zoning Defense Fund, and approved the consent agenda.
On financing, Martie Shue of Hilltop Securities said the town conducted a private placement and received five bids; she recommended Huntington Public Capital Corporation at a fixed interest rate of 3.48% for the proposed seven‑year tax notes. "Huntington Public Capital Corporation came in with the lowest proposed interest rate of 3.48%," Martie said. She said the town would fund a $1,200,000 project fund for the fire truck and estimated cost of issuance at $35,000; proceeds were expected to be received on Oct. 31 after attorney general approval.
Council read the CDC resolution caption twice and approved the fiscal year 24‑25 CDC budget and budgeted projects, which staff said include planning for a park near Highway 5 and a property purchase consistent with the CDC budget. Council also authorized staff to implement a donation website to accept contributions toward town legal fees in connection with a recent zoning matter; the mayor said the fund will be publicized in the town newsletter.
All items on the consent agenda were approved as presented by voice vote.
