Utah House advances several bills to the Senate; HB45 deferred for further work

The clerk announced House Bill 17, which amends procedures for the Utah Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Council (sponsored by Representative Austin B. Bradshaw), was characterized on the floor as "completely noncontroversial." Representative Norman L. Nielsen presented House Bill 50, amendments to the Utah Substance Abuse Council. The clerk recorded HB50 as passing with 71 affirmative votes and 0 negative votes; it was transmitted to the Senate.
Earlier in the session the House also concurred with Senate amendments on House Bill 99 (reviser statute) and the clerk announced the bill would be transmitted to the Senate for signature; the transcript includes an ambiguous numeric tally in the clerk’s announcement. Several measures from the Senate (SB29 and SB17) were referred to the Rules Committee for House action.
Procedural notes: multiple committee reports were adopted by voice and several bills (including task-force bills and items with fiscal impact) were referred to the Rules Committee for prioritization. The House adjourned until 10:00 a.m. the following morning.
