Utah House administers oath to appointee John Garr and recognizes state employees

The Utah House convened and the reading clerk presented a letter from Gov. Norman H. Bangerter announcing the appointment of John Garr to fill the vacant House seat for District 70; Speaker administered the oath of office to Garr.
Speaker and members then recognized public employees from across legislative districts, naming attendees from the Departments of Human Services, Transportation, Public Safety, the Office of Education and many county and state agencies. The speaker thanked the employees for their service and asked representatives to present plaques and additional information to the honorees.
John Garr took the oath and was welcomed back to the legislature; the chamber held a short reception invitation for the public employees following the proceedings.
