Today in the House: consent-calendar bills and a string of resolutions advance
Summary

The Utah House disposed of several consent-calendar items and adopted a number of concurrent resolutions during the session.
On the consent calendar, H.B. 118 (an animal-health measure requiring commercial swine feeders to heat certain byproduct feed) passed on the floor with a recorded vote of 66–0 and was transmitted to the Senate. H.B. 153 (Adoption Expenses Amendment) also passed by voice and recorded as passing the House (68–0) and will be forwarded to the Senate.
The House adopted committee reports and set several bills for priority placement on the third-reading calendar, including H.B. 162 (strategic planning substitute), H.B. 158 (task force reauthorization), H.B. 245 (class size reduction appropriation), H.B. 252 (education technology), and H.B. 280 (placement under suspension of rules).
The chamber also moved quickly through a set of ceremonial and policy resolutions under a 30-second time limit, approving multiple House Concurrent Resolutions recognizing local preparedness work, commemorating Fort Douglas, supporting summer games in Cedar City, and honoring civic and service organizations. The House adjourned to reconvene at 10 a.m. Monday.
