House unanimously approves bill validating marriages previously voided by disease‑based prohibition

Representative Jones explained the bill simply ‘‘repeals and corrects the situation’’ created by the prior statutory language and validates marriages that would otherwise have been valid. Lawmakers briefly discussed the bill and, after a roll-call, the bill passed the House unanimously. The House journal will be returned to the Senate with the vote recorded and the bill forwarded for the president’s signature.
The measure was described on the floor as technical and remedial; sponsors said it resolves probate and insurance consequences that arose from the earlier prohibition.
