An unidentified legislator opened the final House proceedings by thanking colleagues and highlighting the chamber’s work this year, saying the legislature had enacted a tight budget, made substantial infrastructure investments and “given the people of this state a tax cut of nearly a hundred and $40,000,000.”
The floor moved quickly through routine business. A member moved to dissolve the committee as a whole and thank the governor for joining; the motion carried on a voice vote. The Speaker then named representatives to serve as a committee to wait upon the senate and, separately, appointed members to confer with the governor to determine whether he had any further communications before adjournment.
In closing remarks, an unidentified legislator reflected on the 45-day session, thanked specific colleagues and staff and emphasized bipartisan cooperation: "We recognize and respect each other's opinions, and that's what makes this process beautiful." Minority leadership spokesman Anthony Nunez also praised the majority leadership for working cooperatively and keeping the minority informed during negotiations.
A lieutenant of the House reported that the committee had informed the governor that the legislature had completed its business and was prepared to adjourn sine die. Later, a member moved that the legislature adjourn sine die; the motion was carried on a voice vote and the House closed its session.
Actions taken on the floor in the final minutes were procedural: dissolving the committee as a whole, appointing committees to notify the senate and governor, and formally adjourning sine die. There were no bills debated to final passage on the floor during these closing exchanges.
The session included repeated expressions of gratitude to pages, committee staff and security personnel for their work during the session. Members then departed following the adjournment.
