House reconsiders HB 208, trims residential scope and passes measure 64–6

Salt Lake City — The House voted to reconsider House Bill 208 and adopted technical amendments to narrow the bill’s scope on Feb. 7.
Representative Holliday moved to reconsider the bill and then proposed an amendment to delete language that had included residential dwellings in inspection provisions and to remove an extra, duplicative definition of asbestos-containing material. The motion to amend was adopted by voice vote, and the House subsequently voted on the amended measure.
House passage was recorded as 64 yes and 6 no. The sponsor said the changes were technical corrections promised after the bill’s approval and that the amendments address residential-inspection scope concerns.
