House adopts committee reports and advances a package of bills; routine and consent items move forward
Summary
The House adopted the Rules Committee report and several committee recommendations, assigned bills to standing committees, and approved a series of largely uncontroversial bills and appropriations on the consent and third-reading calendars.
The Utah House adopted the Rules Committee report and several standing-committee recommendations and processed a line of consent and third-reading bills on Feb. 24.
Clerk and committee chairs listed measures referred from the Senate and the Rules Committee’s recommendations for committee assignment. The House adopted the Rules Committee report by voice vote after a brief motion; the chair stated, “The motion carries.”
The body approved committee reports from Revenue & Taxation, Public Subdivisions, and other standing committees, placing numerous bills on the consent calendar or third-reading calendar for later action. Several bills received brief floor consideration or were placed on calendar status (examples listed on the record include HB108, HB332, HB400, HB408, SB29, SB50 and SB56). Where committee amendments were made, the chair and clerks confirmed those amendments had been incorporated into the bill versions available to members.
The session also recorded votes on multiple items later in the day that were routine or passed with broad support; those measures were forwarded to the Senate.
The House adjourned after leadership signaled an upcoming reset of legislative priorities and moved to reconvene at 9 a.m. the following morning.
