House approves bill to establish 511 traveler information system, refers measure to Senate

On the eighth day of the 2001 legislative session the Utah House passed House Bill 202, establishing 511 as the statewide traveler-information number and referring the bill to the Senate for further consideration.
Representative Marta Dilley, the sponsor, told the House HB 202 would consolidate about a dozen existing traveler-information numbers into a single three-digit number and name the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) the lead implementing agency. "House bill 202 establishes a 3 digit number, which is 511 to be used for traveler information," the sponsor said during her remarks.
