The Big Spring City Council opened its second regular November 2024 meeting and approved the consent agenda covering items 2 through 8 by unanimous voice vote after a motion from Councilmember Anales and a second from another councilmember.
Councilmember Anales moved, "I move that we approve consent items number 2 through 8." An unnamed councilmember seconded the motion, and the presiding officer announced the measure passed unanimously.
The meeting then turned to member input. Councilmember Anales offered holiday greetings: "Just happy Thanksgiving to the entire citizens of Big Spring, my colleagues, and the entire city staff. So, hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving." Other members echoed holiday wishes, thanked colleagues for assistance on routine matters and shared brief community notes.
A councilmember identifying as representing District 5 in the southeast part of Big Spring announced a large-item pickup scheduled for Nov. 20 and advised residents to "call the city office ahead of time" to arrange pickups. Another member thanked veterans, noting a family connection to military service.
With no further items raised, the presiding officer asked if anything else was before the council; an unidentified speaker said "Attorney," indicating the city attorney was requested to speak or respond next. The meeting then continued to the next agenda matter.
