Belton council approves two rezonings, postpones another

The Belton City Council approved two rezoning requests and postponed a third during its Aug. 27 meeting.
Planning staff presented the Wheat Road rezoning (Item 7), saying the owner intends to build a combined warehouse and office for a plumbing and HVAC facility. Staff and the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended a change from retail/single-family to Commercial 2, consistent with adjacent commercial parcels; the public hearing drew no speakers and the council approved the zoning change unanimously.
Item 8 (a proposed change at 2721 North Main Street from planned development retail to amended planned development retail) was listed as postponed; the council moved to postpone the item to a future date and approved that motion unanimously.
Item 9 involved rezoning approximately four acres at 4393 West Highway 1190 Service Road to permit an addition to the existing Key Valley Church. Staff said the parcel had been annexed and assigned agricultural zoning in 2004; Planning and Zoning recommended approval, there were no public commenters, and the council approved the rezoning unanimously.
No council dissent was recorded for these land-use votes.
