Unidentified city staff told the council the city switched employee coverage from Blue Cross Blue Shield to Curative Health roughly a month and a half ago and said the rollout had "a few hiccups" but is otherwise meeting expectations.
"We are about a month and a half into it, and I'm excited to report that, you know, it it it is as advertised," the staff member said. The presenter noted initial challenges with getting doctors nominated and that staff had called other employers using the plan to check performance. Staff described the plan—s design as offering more online options and cited plan features in the meeting: "you've got 0 co pay, 0 deductible, and 0 on the farm, pharmaceuticals." Council members acknowledged the information and did not record any formal action on benefits in this meeting.
Staff said due diligence preceded the switch and that they will continue to monitor provider access and member experience in the coming weeks.
