Residents urge animal‑care advisory board and expanded recycling during public comment

Gonzalez said the advisory board is important because "these are living, breathing creatures" and noted she had raised the issue previously and was seeking follow‑up from the mayor and city manager.
Charlie Lopez, who identified himself as a resident at 1002 Avenue S, asked the council to report how many city departments participate in recycling and suggested the city assign staff (including on Saturdays) to collect departmental recyclables and bring them to the county precinct recycling site. Lopez said the city could do more to educate employees and reduce waste given regional drought and wildfire conditions.
No formal action was taken during the meeting on either request; both are matters for staff follow‑up and potential future agenda items.
