The Windcrest Parks and Recreation Commission recommended Commissioner Lamar Allawson to City Council for the commission—s vice chair position after staff announced a resignation.
City staff told the commission they had received a resignation notice from Commissioner Scott Lee Ross, creating a vacancy and vacating the vice-chair role. Commissioners discussed whether to solicit volunteers or nominate, and a commissioner volunteered. A motion to recommend Commissioner Lamar Allawson to City Council for the vice chair position was made and seconded; the motion carried with one abstention.
Staff said the recommendation will be forwarded to City Council, which will make the appointment. The commission noted it will also open the usual applicant pool and advertise the vacancy for any additional applicants to the parks and recreation board.
