University Park recognizes promotions in emergency communications and fire department

The University Park City Council recognized two internal promotions Tuesday: Teresa Lofton was introduced as the city’s new emergency communications supervisor, and Casey Graves was promoted to assistant fire chief.
Police Chief Bill Mathis said Lofton joined University Park in August 2016, earned a master telecommunicator designation in 2022 and has received recognitions for excellent service. Mathis recounted a 2021 missing-persons case in which Lofton’s observation and quick coordination helped return an elderly resident with Alzheimer’s to his family within 15 minutes. Lofton said she was humbled by the promotion and pledged to make the best use of new technology investments for the department.
Fire Department presenters described Casey Graves’ tenure with the department: hired as a firefighter in 2010, paramedic training in 2011, promoted to driver engineer in 2017, lieutenant in 2018, captain in 2021 and now assistant fire chief. Family members were introduced at the dais and a small ceremony/photo opportunity followed the recognition.
Council and staff congratulated both employees on their promotions and thanked them for continuing service to residents.
