University Park approves $120,100 addendum for Miracle Mile design services

The University Park City Council approved a $120,100 professional‑services addendum to the Hewitt Zollars contract for the Miracle Mile reconstruction project, staff told the council Tuesday.
Director of Engineering Katie Baron said the design contract approved in 2021 required additional services as the project moved toward construction in coordination with Dallas County. The addendum covers supplemental scope added during a longer-than-expected design phase. "The item before you is for an additional $120,100 in supplemental services to cover the scope and fee of those items to their initial contract," Baron said.
Baron told council that most professional-services costs are city-funded but that construction costs are reimbursable; she referenced a DART reimbursement figure of $2,100,000 for the project’s construction. She also clarified that Dallas County and the City of Dallas will pay for construction only, not the additional professional services covered by this addendum.
A motion to approve the addendum was moved, seconded and carried by the council. Staff said the addendum is intended to keep the project on schedule so it can proceed to construction.
