The City Commission introduced an ordinance amending the City of Kingsville Code (Cap. 5 Public Works, Article 3 Water) to adopt sections 82 and 83 that provide required statutory language for water supply contracts and the city’s drought contingency plan. Staff explained the update is required to maintain TCEQ compliance and to support applications for Texas Water Development funding.
The presentation noted that engineering's grant applications triggered a review and that legislative language for water disbursement during drought needed to be added to the municipal code. The item was an introduction only; no action was taken and the commission will consider the ordinance at a future meeting.
Bill, a staff member, was asked to discuss details at the next meeting. Commissioners did not request additional materials beyond the standard ordinance review process.
