The Kingsville City Commission unanimously approved change order No. 2 to the PM Construction Rehab LLC contract for the Tenth Street sanitary sewer improvement, a GLO CDBG-MIT-funded project. Staff said video inspection revealed pipe conditions that require substituting the originally planned 12-inch cast-in-place pipe with 16-inch pipe-bursting and other work, extending the schedule by about 60 calendar days and increasing cost by roughly $126,000 to be paid from GLO funding.
Rudy, presenting the item, explained the substitution and described how the change was identified during pipe-video inspection. "We're substituting that with 16 inches diameter pipe bursting to repair this method and other items listed in the change order," he said, and added the additional work will take approximately 60 calendar days.
Commissioner Alvarez moved to approve the resolution authorizing the mayor to execute change order No. 2; Commissioner Alcorn seconded. Roll-call votes recorded unanimous approval. Staff said the added cost will be charged to the GLO funding line item referenced in the project account.
The commission did not approve any additional local funding at the meeting; staff said the work will continue under the modified contract and noted the contractor will implement the pipe-bursting repair technique documented in the change order.
