Wheeler — The Wheeler City Council appointed Wesley (Wes) Wooten as the city’s next manager at the June 18 meeting, with an anticipated start date of Monday, June 24.
Council members moved and seconded the appointment during the meeting; the manager-candidate joined by Zoom and thanked the council. Officials asked Wooten to coordinate with staff (Phil and others) over onboarding plans and encouraged him to meet councilors and department leads the first week on the job.
The appointment was recorded on the meeting agenda and will take effect June 24, at which time city check-signing authorities will be updated to add the new manager and remove the outgoing manager from the bank authorization list (a separate resolution on check-signing authority was also on the agenda).
