House OKs wildlife permit change allowing conservation permittees to hunt on private units with owner permission

House Bill 217, a Natural Resources measure, was approved by the Utah House after sponsor remarks and brief discussion.
Representative Bradley T. Johnson (presenting committee report earlier) and Representative Steiler described the bill as a limited change to allow special permittees to enter cooperative wildlife management units when the landowner grants permission. Representative Steiler said the bill "would allow…permittees to go on those units if they get the permission of the owners" and emphasized that if permission is not obtained, access remains prohibited.
The measure drew little floor debate beyond clarification of owner permission and was passed by the House 70-0 with 5 absent. It will be transmitted to the Senate for further action.
