House backs enumeration for redistricting; bill passes 49–20

"This language of this law states that the state of Utah for redistricting ... will use enumeration," the sponsor said, adding counsel's advice that the change does not alter funding. After a short floor exchange and waived summation, voting opened. The House recorded a roll-call result: House Bill 201 received 49 yes votes and 20 no votes and was referred to the Senate for further action.
The measure deals with the technical standard the state will use for altering district lines; the sponsor presented it as clarifying statutory language to conform to constitutional requirements and recent court guidance. The bill will proceed to the Senate.
