Stratford council adopts FY24-25 capital improvement appropriation and bond authorization with targeted amendments

The Stratford Town Council on July 8 adopted the FY24-25 capital improvement appropriation in Ordinance 24-05 and a companion bond authorization in Ordinance 24-06 to finance the program.
Mister Lewellen moved adoption of Ordinance 24-05, appropriating $22,956,515 for the capital improvement program. He proposed an amendment that did not change the overall dollar total but reallocated line items: add $50,000 to sidewalk replacements (highway section), add $125,000 to highway surfacing/reconstruction/paving, reduce Board of Education building-maintenance doors and hardware by $150,000, and reduce a duplicate Flood Middle School building-maintenance line by $25,000. The amendment was seconded by Mister O'Neil, adopted by voice vote, and then the amended ordinance was adopted by unanimous roll call.
Mister Malone moved adoption of Ordinance 24-06 authorizing the issuance of $22,956,515 in bonds to meet the appropriation. The council approved an amendment to Exhibit A to reflect the prior changes; the amendment and the bond ordinance were adopted unanimously.
The council recorded the passage of both ordinances and moved on to the resolutions section of the agenda.
