Commission approves minutes, hears zoning‑regulations update and schedules Sept. 11 open house

At the Aug. 28 meeting the Stratford Zoning Commission approved the minutes from its Aug. 14 meeting and received a progress briefing on the zoning‑regulations update project.
Planning staff and the consultant outlined a timeline and said an open house is set for Sept. 11; commissioners were asked to attend and staff one of the topic stations to listen to residents and to provide expertise where possible. Commissioners emphasized the update should align with the town’s Plan of Conservation and Development, Complete Streets policies, and the economic development plan.
Patricia Sullivan, the commission’s legal counsel, said she has researched the family‑definition questions and will provide draft regulatory language and will advise on whether deed restrictions can be required for a third unit in certain conversions.
Commissioners thanked staff for progress, noted the project is on schedule and under budget, and approved the concluding motions by roll call (vote recorded 5–0).
