Stratford WPCA unanimously refers proposed sewer extension at 150 Ornoak Lane to Planning Commission

The Water Pollution Control Authority of the Town of Stratford voted unanimously on Monday to refer a proposed sewer extension for 150 Ornoak Lane to the Planning Commission for an 8-24 review.

Chairman Brian O'Connor, who opened the meeting, told members the town engineer, Mister Casey, could not attend but left an action item regarding the sewer connection. "The planning commission voted previously to give an unfavorable recommendation as the petitioner was not the property owner," O'Connor said. "The petition came directly from the engineer who was designing the sewer. Now we have the petition from the property owner." O'Connor moved the referral; members then voted to send the matter to the Planning Commission.

The 8-24 review is the Planning Commission referral process the Authority uses to check whether town departments and commissions have comments on proposed municipal improvements and land-use changes. The WPCA's motion does not itself approve construction; it forwards the proposal for the Planning Commission's review and recommendation.

At the same meeting the Authority approved the minutes from its Aug. 26, 2024 meeting and heard routine reports. Water pollution control plant superintendent Mister Hyde said there were no items beyond the written reports submitted to the board. Chairman O'Connor said the next WPCA meeting is scheduled for Oct. 28, 2024.
