The Stratford Planning Commission voted unanimously in favor of two infrastructure referrals: the proposed relocation of the town sanitary sewer and pump station tied to the Point Stratford redevelopment, and a resubmitted petition to extend public sewer service to 150 Orinoke Lane.
Staff described the Point Stratford Development plan to remediate existing buildings, demolish structures, and relocate sewer infrastructure to Sniffen Lane and Main Street as part of site preparation for future phases. The schematic design has been completed with DECD grant funds; staff said the town would own and maintain the relocated sewer and pump station once constructed. Commissioners repeatedly emphasized that the commission's recommendation is predicated on there being no cost or expense to the town.
On the Orinoke Lane sewer extension, staff noted that a prior unfavorable review stemmed from lack of owner authorization; the resubmission includes owner consent and the property owner agreed to bear construction costs. Commissioners recommended approval, again with the caveat that there be no town expense.
Next steps: Staff will forward favorable recommendations and caveats to the Town Council and the Water Pollution Control Authority for their review and any necessary financial or permitting determinations.
