House Approves Driver-license Technical Amendments on Consent Calendar

Representative Kaiser told the chamber the bill addresses three discrete topics: corrections to administrative code timing for alcohol-related offense enhancements, closing a service loophole so that any officer (not only the arresting officer) may serve notice of administrative suspension within 24 hours, and modernizing antiquated language that limited the division to mail-only communications so the division may use current electronic methods where appropriate. "This bill addresses those areas in the administrative code which have been missed in the past," Kaiser said during floor remarks.
The measure was reported to the House that it had been heard in Transportation with a committee vote recorded in the Transportation committee. The speaker announced the final tally and that the bill will be signed by the speaker and returned to the Senate for the president's signature.
No amendments or recorded dissent were presented on the floor during the short discussion. The bill moves forward as a technical, nonpolicy update to administrative procedures for driver-license matters.
