The Utah House unanimously adopted Senate Joint Resolution 11 on March 11 to honor O. William ("Bill") Asplund for 28 years of legislative service as assistant director of the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel and executive director of the Tax Review Commission.
Representative Buffmeier carried the resolution on the floor and colleagues offered brief tributes praising Asplund's institutional memory, calm counsel and long record of service across committees such as revenue and taxation, education and public utilities. The Clerk read the resolution's findings about Asplund's academic background, length of state service and committee assignments; the House recorded a 71‑0 voice vote and the resolution will be presented to Asplund and signed by the presiding officers.
The resolution recognizes Asplund's retirement and thanks him for decades of work supporting the legislative process.
