House clears several bills on consent calendar and backs Hill Air Force Base resolution

The House accepted several conference committee reports and passed SJR 4 (fiscal-note process amendments) by a 64-2 vote and First Substitute Senate Bill 23 (municipal government amendments) unanimously, 69-0. On the consent calendar and in third-reading action the House approved Senate Bill 46 (extension of sunset date for the Division of Oil, Gas and Mining) 68-0; House Bill 120 (child welfare funding for in-home services) 70-0; Senate Bill 112 (Uniform Anatomical Gift Act amendments) 71-0; Senate Bill 118 (judiciary housekeeping amendments) 68-0; and First Substitute Senate Bill 14 (insurance code exemption for volunteer coverage) 71-0.
Representative Adams and others briefed the chamber on SCR 3, a resolution supporting Hill Air Force Base, noting the base’s workforce and economic impact. Representative Adams said Hill employs 22,000 people and estimated a roughly $2.1 billion annual economic impact on the state; several members from districts near Hill spoke in support. The House voted to uncircle and then pass SCR 3 unanimously, 71-0; the Speaker will sign the resolution and return it to the Senate.
At the close of the morning session the House announced visitor groups from local high schools and scheduled a 2 p.m. recess.
The measures passed will be forwarded to the Senate or signed by the Speaker as required.
