SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah House on Feb. 28 approved a measure to reorganize the Utah Energy Office and attached statutory oversight after several members raised concerns about the transition and loss of a stand‑alone energy office.
Representative Sperry introduced second substitute Senate Bill 199, explaining the reorganization would relocate functions of the Utah Energy Office to agencies that use them: the State Energy Program and renewable energy tax provisions would move to the Utah Geological Survey, the clean fuels program to the Department of Environmental Quality, the state energy buildings and efficiency program to the Division of Construction and Management, and the energy policy and planning function…
