Utah House backs Taiwan’s bid to join WHO, approves dozens of bills including business-entity and education growth measures

The Utah House of Representatives unanimously approved House Resolution 10 on Tuesday, formally expressing support for Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Organization and other international organizations and welcoming Taiwan’s Consul General, Matthew S. Lee, to the chamber.
Representative Bradley Last, sponsor of the resolution, introduced Matthew S. Lee and David Lin, who attended as Taiwan’s Consul General and division director, and framed the measure as a symbolic gesture of support given Taiwan’s “sensitive political situation.” Consul General Lee thanked the House for its friendship and urged continued ties and cooperation. Representative Hutchings, who described personal ties to Taiwan, urged members to support the resolution; the House recorded 62 yes votes, 0 no votes and the measure was ordered enrolled and signed by the speaker.
