House honors Utah National Guard with unanimous resolution and accompanying presentation

Representatives and Guard members on the floor included Colonel Craig Morgan, Lieutenant Colonel David Thomas, Senior Master Sergeant Allen Hamburg and Specialist Kelly Colbert. The Guard’s slides showed convoy and rebuilding operations, construction of helipads and roads, and humanitarian tasks such as delivering supplies and arranging medical care. "We are very appreciative of them being here today," Representative Hunsaker said when introducing the presentation.
Members from across the House spoke in support. Representative Hutchings said his family had seen sacrifice first-hand, and Representative Adams recounted a constituent serving in Afghanistan. Representative Lawrence called the Guard "the cream of the crop." After a motion to dissolve the committee of the whole and return to the floor, the House voted on HCR 5. The resolution passed the House by a vote of 72 yes, 0 no and was referred to the Senate for consideration.
Next steps: The resolution will be transmitted to the Senate as indicated by the House clerk; the presenter’s legacy materials will be placed in the House library for the session.
