The House approved first substitute Senate Bill 85 to establish a state‑owned collections inventory study program intended to modernize and catalog government art collections. "This particular piece of legislation establishes the state owned collections inventory study program," Wallace said.
Wallace described committee membership, suggested public–private contracting when useful, and noted the bill's intent to set standards for conservation, display and public use. Representative Allen voiced support and urged more attention to contemporary art acquisitions. Wallace said the bill includes a modest appropriation ("It's a $9,600 appropriation on it") and invited members to vote. The House passed SB 85 unanimously, 70–0; the bill will be signed by the Speaker and returned to the Senate for the president's signature.
