SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah House of Representatives moved through a set of procedural actions during the special session, adopting motions to strip enacting clauses from remaining bills and to authorize the Speaker to notify executive and legislative counterparts that the chamber had finished its business.
Representative Alexander moved to strike the enacting clause “on all house and senate bills and resolutions remaining on the house and senate calendars and any bills or resolutions remaining in the possession of the rules committee.” The motion was adopted by voice vote; the transcript does not record a roll-call tally for that voice vote.
Representative Urquhart moved that the House authorize the Speaker to notify the governor’s representative that the House had completed its business and was prepared to adjourn. The motion passed; the Speaker appointed Representatives Brad Johnson, Joe Murray and Carl Duckworth to wait upon the governor’s representative in the gallery.
Representative Alexander then moved that the Speaker be authorized to appoint a committee to wait upon the Senate and inform that body the House had completed its business and was prepared to adjourn. The motion passed and the Speaker appointed Representatives Paul Ray, Aaron Tilton and Pat Jones to the committee.
Members exchanged brief remarks thanking those selected; the Speaker directed Chief Clerk Sandy Tenney to read, revise and make minor corrections to the House Journal and to certify the bound copy as the official record of the 2006 third special session. The House indicated it would take the committee report from the Senate when it returned and then take a motion to adjourn.
